32 young Australians across the country have been announced as Accelerate scholars, awarded the ABCN Foundation’s 3-year mentoring and financial scholarship that combines corporate mentoring and financial assistance for high-potential students from low socio-economic backgrounds.
The program covers Years 11, 12 and the first year of further education/training. Scholars receive:
In November the ABCN Foundation Team hosted a virtual “Accelebration” to introduce the new scholars and build excitement about the program and all the fantastic events in store for them. 31 scholars joined online, along with 23 school partners, ABCN Foundation’s Peta Magick and Kirsty Edwards and the ABCN State Managers.
The ABCN Foundation was launched in 2013 in response to the many exceptional young people who attended ABCN programs but faced significant socio-economic and/or family challenges. Further discussions with school principals and other educators revealed that for many bright young students facing disadvantage, financial assistance – though critical – is not enough. By combining financial assistance with a tailored program and personalised mentorship, the Foundation cultivates an environment where these young people are supported to thrive academically, personally and professionally. Applications are open to all Year 10 Australian students whose circumstances are impacting their ability to pursue tertiary pathways and achieve their potential.
ABCN works with inspirational, like-minded business leaders from corporate Australia who support us in funding our transformational scholarships. Partners can support their own targeted educational scholarship through either direct sponsorship, workplace giving or corporate fundraising one, two or three years of a three-year scholarship.
