The Future Influence-Her – inspiring the next generation of women leaders

By taking part in our new one-day girls and women in leadership program, 50 female student leaders from six different ABCN partner schools were given the opportunity to learn from 25 senior business women at our biggest mentoring event yet. Run in partnership with ABCN member company MCI, The Future Influence-Her was facilitated by MCI Managing Director Denise Meyerson and hosted at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.

The program focused on building leadership strengths and gave female students in Years 11 and 12 who had been identified by their school as potential leaders a chance to explore leadership concepts alongside senior women from a wide range of industries and careers.  Students taking part were lucky enough to be joined by senior executives and CEOs from a number of ABCN’s member companies including American Express, Department of Defence, Ernst & Young, Genworth, Gilbert + Tobin, Navitas, Norton Rose Fulbright Lawyers and Tata Consultancy Services.

Post-program evaluations revealed 100% of student participants valued the experience. ‘I learnt posture, professional presence, a proper handshake, the importance of eye contact and that gender doesn’t determine positional power,’ said one student. A further 90% said the most valuable part of the day was meeting a range of senior executive women.

We’d like to acknowledge the talented students from Sarah Redfern, Liverpool Girls, Hoxton Park, Mitchell, Kingsgrove North and Holroyd High Schools, who took part in the program.
